—->>>Round 2 Entry<<<—-

Click the link above to enter round 2, please enter sooner rather than later. If entering round 2 as a dual driver you will need to enter both drivers via separate entries but only pay for one, enter the second driver via Cheque payment to avoid paying twice.

Round 2

2 weeks until round 2 of season 3. Those entered will get an email from the event organiser later next week with all the important info. Keep in mind 2KCUP is just a series and does not run the event, this means for things like withdrawals you need to contact the event organiser and not 2KCUP (in this case HRC.)

Round 2 is set to be the biggest round in 2KCUP history with 120 teams indicating attendance, to give some meaning to that number, last round we had 99 teams turn up on the day after 110 indicated attendance. Due to the numbers and the fact that superlap are the only other class, we have already secured 3 grids for the event, not far off being forced to go to 4 grids if numbers continue to grow.

For teams with two drivers, your second driver will need to qualify in a different qualifying session. We will release the grids in the days prior on our facebook page and website/forum but they will be along the lines of:

First Grid – Top 40 in points
Second Grid – Middle 40 in points
Third Grid – Bottom 40 in points

The above also puts forward a problem no other race series in NZ has ever come across on this scale. As there is “only” provision for 3 grids at round 3, a track limit of 40 at Pukekohe (HD is 46) and the fact just over 120 have already indicated they wish to attend, we may have 3 capacity grids come round 3. We will work with the organisers to allow for any withdrawals to be replaced on the day but to avoid missing out make sure you enter when we advise to do so.

This leads to my last point, entering on the day at a 2KCUP event is like trying to turn up and buy tickets to the Grand Final of a major sporting event on the day, you’re to late and makes it a challenge to shuffle around everyone else to try fit you in. Its only by shear luck we were able to fit 99 into 92 spots at the last event due to mechanical failures, some well placed bets and magic. If your on the fence about entering due to what ever reason, enter well ahead of time and then withdraw in the days prior if you can’t make it, you will get a refund, someone can take your spot and it means no surprises on the day.

BBQCTD V1

The first of two twilight BBQCTD days went well with a total of 48 making it there on the day. Due to the numbers, we ran an open pit for the first hour and then started doing rolling 10min sessions started by race lights. Feedback has been great with a lot of first timers liking the chance to ease into what a race day would be like without the pressure of racing. Our next one is on March 19th at Hampton Downs.

Log Books

MSNZ have changed the rules recently which means all “Series”, even if not sanctioned, require each competitor to have a log book. If you don’t have one currently make sure its the first thing you send off for on Monday morning. Anything MSNZ related is between the competitor and MSNZ, 2KCUP can’t help you and neither can the event organiser, if anything MSNZ related doesn’t turn up in time you can always give MSNZ a call or email and they will mostly likely give you an exemption for the event via a letter, email or some other form, but don’t leave it until race day.

Kind Regards,
